???? Uzbek Leasing and Maybank: a new chapter in a longstanding partnership

From 3 to 6 September 2026, the management of Uzbek Leasing International A.O. paid a working visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

As part of the visit, a meeting was held between Mr. Zafarjon Buribaevich Mustafayev, General Director of Uzbek Leasing International A.O., and Dato’ Sri Khairussaleh Ramli, President and Group CEO of Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank).

The meeting marked a continuation of the 31-year partnership between Uzbek Leasing and Maybank. Maybank was one of the founding shareholders of Uzbek Leasing and remains the only one of the four original founders that continues to hold an ownership stake in the company today.

Maybank played an important role in the establishment and development of Uzbek Leasing. In 1995, the bank became one of the company's founding shareholders with a 35% stake, alongside the National Bank of Uzbekistan, the EBRD and IFC. In the following years, Maybank specialists contributed to the company's management and provided technical assistance, while the bank also supported Uzbek Leasing by providing financial resources for business development.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for further strategic cooperation, including new opportunities for attracting financing, the development of Islamic financial instruments, as well as training programmes for Uzbek Leasing employees.

Particular attention was paid to the development of Islamic finance. Uzbek Leasing already offers Ijarah and Murabaha financing solutions and is considering further expansion of this business line by leveraging Maybank's international expertise and financial resources.

The long history of cooperation between the two institutions provides a strong foundation for implementing new joint initiatives and opening the next chapter in the partnership between Uzbek Leasing and Maybank.
